An update from the boss.
On Friday 12th June we had an electrical fire at our business premises. This happened while we working but thankfully all employees and customers were unhurt. The fire brigade arrived within fifteen minutes of the alarm being raised and minimum damage was caused to our shop. However the electric board was damaged beyond repair and we have had no power since. Not only did the fire brigade do an excellent job putting the fire out they also helped us move all of our frozen stock to a neighbours coldstore over the road resulting in no loss of frozen stock at all. We did lose fresh fish that we had on the premises at the time but all in all loss was kept at a minimal. We are now in the hands of our insurers as to when the power can be replaced and restored. We do have an adjoining factory - the one where we pack all our online orders in - and that still has power. We have moved all of our shop frozen displays into there. We have also been loaned a couple of wet fish display tables. We aim to have a makeshift shop up and running on Monday 22nd June. As we will be running a shop in this area and our fire damaged shop remains out of bounds it currently leaves us nowhereto pack our online orders. We aim to have solved this issue and be able to open our website up again very soon. Sorry that we cannot ship nationwide at this moment. It is as frustrating to us as we are sure it is to you. From our position here in Grimsby we can offer products to you the retail or trade customer at incredibly good value. We attend the Grimsby Fish Market daily where fish is still sold at a 'shout' auction. The highest bidder wins! Sometimes supply outstrips demand and prices plummet. This is where we can step in and buy fresh fish at low prices. When we do so we send out an email to everybody that has filled in the pop up form on our site. This will make all aware that we have a certain species that we can offer fresh for three to five days at a rock bottom price or that we have bought a lot of fish that we will be blast freezing and selling from our frozen fish section at a great price. We ourselves are inundated weekly from suppliers trying to sell to us. We have a great reputation as a good payer so we are often first call for suppliers trying to get a quick deal on a pallet or two of seafood.
