The crabs are cooked and picked through the night and delivered to us in the morning. If we do not sell out that day we freeze the rest and you can buy the frozen ones here. Each crab weigh in at 200grms (about 7ozs) and has a good proportion of white meat. All of our crabs come in natural shells. Order a dozen and get 15% off.
When we import the king crab it comes in different sizes and packings. Inevitably we get damage to the delicate sets and we end up with smaller pieces of crab which we are unable to sell as whole sets. Here you can buy 100% king crab at a fraction of the normal price. Still the same sweet meat inside but usually smaller sized legs.
Lobster the lazy way, pure meat extracted from the body and claws of this handsome shellfish. Great for adding flavour and colour to your pasta or salad.
Our cockles are harvested from the Essex cockles beds close to the Thames Estuary. Deal Bros. have been doing this for decades but a few years they invested in new 'state or the art' nitrogen freezing equipment. The results are finest cockle meat tasting every bit as good as if you were to cook them on the beach.
These are legs and claws from the giant red king crab, full of meat and flavour. These are pre-cooked and can be eaten after defrosting, just use scissors to cut the length of the leg to expose the flesh. You have the option of the larger size or just take the medium which does contain some smaller broken sections and smaller single claws. The large size king crab are catchweights, as close to 1 kilo as we can get, we will adjust the price to fit the weight you receive.
Giant king crab claws and legs (clusters) from this awesome beast of the deep. These are the extra large 1.5 kilos plus about 3lbs per set, spectacular and a gastronomic experience for the few. This is our catering pack for restaurants, bargain hunters or the very hungry!
The last of our raw king crab, these are broken legs and claws to cook yourself. The replacement cost will be much higher sadly, watch this space...
King crab with all the hard work done. This is the meat extracted from the king crab claws, legs and shoulder packed in a 500 grm (just over a pound) block. Choose between all leg meat or leg and shoulder, both excellent!
Here is another example of how you can have seasonal seafood out of season. We sell fresh mussels in the winter when they are at there best. We buy frozen mussels during this period so you can enjoy them all year round. Vacuum packed and flash frozen to ensure full flavour.
This is meat from the European edible crab the same as you can buy fresh in our dressed crabs. It is extracted by hand then frozen in blocks. There are 2 choices; '50/50' is half brown and half white and then the 'all white'. The brown meat definitely has more flavour but the texture is more like a paste, the white from the claws is flakier and generally preferred. Make your choice.....
These are actually called Mangrove crabs harvested in Indonesia. After cooking you eat the whole thing and therein lies the taste. Cooking instructions are on the back of the pack. These are the 'Jumbo' size 12 in a pack.
These lobsters are precooked and ready to eat. After defrosting slice down the middle of the head through to the tail with a stiff knife so you have two matching halves. Remove the stomach which is the green/brown sludge in the middle of the head. Everything else is edible even the shell ground up to make lobster bisque! Here you have the option of the 350 grm or 400 grms frozen packed in a securing net.
These are the raw material of breaded scampi. In Scotland and Northern Ireland the locals call them prawns, the Latin name is Nephrops norvegicus but most people refer to them as Langoustines or Scampi. The meat is in the tail and there is not much of it but what there is is very tasty. There are huge quantities landed in Scotland most of which goes to our Latin friends in Spain and Italy.
These are peeled tails of Dublin Bay Prawns or Langoustines, the raw material of breaded scampi. These are produced in Scotland so the carbon footprint isn't too bad!
Is it shellfish or whitefish? Whatever, you eat the whole thing, heads, tails the lot but this proves to be its strength - flavour. Try rolling them from frozen in seasoned flour then chuck them into very hot oil for a couple of minutes. After frying remove from the pan with a slotted spoon onto kitchen paper to remove the excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and serve with garlic mayonnaise and lemon juice. Enjoy...
Great in seafood linguine or a paella, don't cook too long.
The last time you ate these you were probably by the seaside. We sell plenty to the kiosks and shellfish stalls that keep the tradition of eating whelks alive. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like whelks then these are as good as they get. We only sell frozen whelk meat produced by a large manufacturer that exports most of the production to the Far East where they are extremely popular it seems.
If you take scallop meat freshly extracted from the shell and leave it in water it gradually absorbs water and consequently increases in weight, we buy only dry scallops which although very wet are unsoaked. This said our frozen scallops do have a heavy 'protective' glaze. We offer here the giant 'King' ones you will often see but also the Queen scallop which is a smaller version and far cheaper but having the same taste as its cousin. We also have fresh 'Dry' scallops in our fresh shellfish section.
Macrea crabsticks are the market leader in crab flavoured sticks. Made from Surimi these are a good alternative to other crab products. We offer these along with our Jus-Like brand which are as good and are a lot cheaper. Remember to take off the plastic wrap before consuming!
Made from surimi these are shaped like a King prawn and sort of taste like a king prawn but that's where the resemblance ends. Great finger food dipped in sauce.
These giant mussels are from New Zealand. They are grown on ropes or chains dangling in the clear water Fjords on the North Island. The Green edge of the shell gives it the name. You can buy the meat alone or take the half shell both delicious.
These are made from Surimi which is produced from Alaskan Pollack. The beauty of Surimi is that it is boneless and can be moulded into any shape you like, see our imitation King Prawns. These are handy at dinner parties as finger food but a sauce helps.
We offer 2 species of frozen mussel meat. The Danish comes in 1kg bags and the Chilean is packed by ourselves in a 1lb bag, both good. These come ready cooked so you can eat them after defrosting.
