This is the time of year when cod roe is in season. Here you can buy the raw cod roe or receive it cooked and ready to eat. There's nothing better than cooked cod roe sizzled in bacon fat.
Tenderised squid rings from Galicia in Northern Spain. Vigo on the Northwest peninsular of Iberia is the capital of Squid in Europe and where we buy our squid rings. Here you can buy the battered ready to cook variety or take the blanched naked ones where you can cook them as you like. All have been tenderised to make them soft and sweet.
This is the male roe from the humble herring, sometimes called 'Melts' or 'Milt'. These come in a 5 lbs block but in each block there are 5 separable pieces so 1lb or thereabouts can be removed the rest returned to the freezer. Just blanch or grill for a minute and serve on toast.

There are many different types of octopus in the ocean some inedible some delicious, this one is imported from Spain the largest eater of Octopus in Europe. We sell these individually and each fish is around 1.5 kg but we will charge you the actual weight received. Look in your recipe books for Pulpo Galicia....A Spanish delicacy.
There are hundreds of species of squid out there but this one (loligo opalescence) is probably the most common in Britain. We bring in containers of this stuff and much of it goes for fishing bait. It is perfectly edible but look out for the species which we find around our shores (loligo vulgaris) which is by far the tenderest from the sea. Most of what is landed here is exported to Iberia and Italy, they know about squid there. We will offer this species fresh during the autumn/winter season.
